AMT secures agency for Sitma equipment

Advanced Machinery Technology has been named as the new Australian agent for finishing manufacturer Sitma.

The deal was formally announced at Ipex last month and came into effect on 1 June.

Sydney-headquartered AMT has a longstanding relationship with Sitma in rebuilds, but will now also offer new machines alongside this existing service.

Sitma used to be distributed locally by Alexandria-based Ferag, which acted as the agent in Australia from December 1999 until March this year.

AMT told ProPrint that the move was a "logical choice" for the company due to its relationship with Sitma.

According to AMT, the plastic wrap machines are popular with both magazine and newspaper printers.

"The majority of people who use plastic wrap are mail houses, but printers have been getting into it too," they said.

Italy-based Sitma, which was established in 1965, has more than 8,000 systems installed worldwide and is active in over 70 countries.
